Police High Command confirm sack of Gov Wike SCO.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DONALD AWUNAH, said the Inspector General of Police, IBRAHIM IDRIS had set up a panel to investigate NWOSU, who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police, after he was redeployed from Rivers State.

In a statement confirming the development, the Force spokesman said DSP NWOSU was found to have compromised professional discipline by conducting himself in a manner unexpected of an officer of the Force during the near confrontation between PDP and APC supporters in Port Harcourt on 17th November.

The Force spokesman noted that the active presence of the CSO to the Governor in a partisan crowd of an opposition party to the governor in a clandestine and suspicious manner was considered mischievous and detrimental to the security of the state and public order and also contrary to his oath of office. He said the CSO has been officially queried for discreditable conduct, insubordination, engaging in partisan political activities, illegal duty and acting in a manner unbecoming of a public officer.

In view of the explanations; the Police High Command dismissed allegations by Governor NYESOM WIKE and the Peoples Democratic Party that the removal of DSP NWOSU as CSO was part of a grand plot to have the governor assassinated.

According to the statement obtained by our correspondent, the Police High noted that Governor WIKE was at liberty to pick another Chief Security Officer of his choice from the ranks of personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Inspector General of Police, IBRAHIM IDRIS, has also warned that any police officer, especially those attached to political officer holders or senior government officials, who engage in activities outside their official schedule, will be removed and made to face severe disciplinary action.
