Residents who spoke in an interview with Today FM’s Treasure Onuodu in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State noted that while the reduction is applauded, they still find the prices too high.
They emphasized that the tariff reduction is minimal and remains burdensome for Nigerian citizens, lamenting the lack of corresponding improvement in electricity service expected of Band A customers.
Meanwhile, a communications lecturer at the Rivers State University, Joseph Okedi has advised the Federal Government to differentiate between residential and industrial areas in tariff structuring to ensure equitable pricing for electricity consumption.
