AKOR’s arraignment before the Federal High Court in Abuja comes even before the activities of Peace Corp Nigeria would get legal backing, as the enabling act of parliament is still pending.
AKOR is facing a ninety-count charge of extortion of applicants seeking to join the corps, obtaining by false pretence and money laundering.
He another arrested members of the Peace Corps are also accused of wearing uniforms and other identification marks contrary to the Private Guard Companies Act .
One of the charges indicates that the defendants were being tried for organising and training of members of Peace Corps of Nigeria as a quasi- Military organization contrary to the Public Order Act.
However; the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of thirty million naira.
The trial judge, Justice JOHN TSOHO granted the Peace Corps boss bail in the sum of ten million naira, with two sureties in like sum each.
