Greek club Panathinaikos have celebrated Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers after his decisive goal secured a 2–1 victory over CSKA 1948 Sofia in the UEFA Europa Conference League third qualifying round.
Dessers came off the bench and scored in extra time to give Panathinaikos the victory in Sofia, completing a 3–2 aggregate win and sending the Greek side through to the next stage of the competition.
The goal also marked Dessers’ return to action following a lengthy injury lay-off. His late strike proved decisive after the two sides had been level during the encounter.
Panathinaikos took to social media to celebrate the striker’s contribution, highlighting his match-winning impact after returning from injury.
Dessers’ performance will come as a boost to Panathinaikos as the club continues its campaign in the Conference League, while the Nigerian international will hope to build on the goal and regain full match fitness.
