Okirika WaterFront may not be health for residents.

The health concerns around the Derick Polo-Prime Rose shanty neighbourhood is as a result of what the inhabitants call hanging toilet, which is a wooden construction above the water.

Our correspondent FELIX OJOGWU visited the area and spoke with some residents who called on the Rivers State Government to include the waterfronts in its development plan.

The respondents observed that the Okrika waterfront was facing environmental challenges due to neglect by the state government.

However; the Sanitation Chairman of Tonimi Ama Aborigines, THOMPSON BARASI said they adopted the hanging toilets due to lack of space for the construction of toilets with underground septic tanks.

Our correspondent also spoke with the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Council, CHRISTIAN CHIOKWA, who said it was the responsibility of the state government to address environmental problems in waterfront communities.

There you heard the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Port Harcourt City Council, CHRISTIAN CHIOKWA.
