This was confirmed to Today FM by the Executive Director, Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre, Fyneface Dumnamene who was also present at the site for observation, alongside other relevant stakeholders.
According to Dumnamene, who is an Environmental Rights Activist, the tapping point was discovered by youths working as pipe line surveillance contractors in the area.
He said the point where the criminals are tapping the crude oil from, is capable of loading two tankers of thirty three thousand liters.
Fynface Dumnamene also disclosed that Shell was on site for observation and is taking steps to remove the tapping on the pipe and forestall further damage.
