Ogu/Bolo LGA Administrator Conducts Emergency Assessment Following Flash Floods, Announces Sanitation Drive

In response to the recent flash flooding across parts of Ogu/Bolo Local Government, the LGA Administrator, Eliel Owubokiri, has embarked on an emergency on-the-spot assessment tour to affected communities.

The inspection, which followed a heavy downpour on Wednesday, revealed that blocked drainages and indiscriminate waste disposal were primary contributors to the flooding.

As a major step to mitigate the problem, he announced a General Sanitation Exercise scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. across the entire LGA which will focus on thorough cleaning and desilting of gutters and drainages.

The administrator also declared a temporary restriction on vehicular movement and commercial activities during the sanitation period, warning that defaulters would face sanctions from law enforcement agencies.

Addressing affected residents during the tour, Eliel Owubokiri expressed sympathy and encouraged them to take proactive steps in cleaning their immediate surroundings.

He also promised to offer flood relief grants to victims to help mitigate their losses.
