The former President maintained that he was at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre as guest of Senator ABDULLAHI ADAMU, the Senate Committee Chairman on Agriculture, when some PDP leaders stormed the venue to greet him.
In a statement issued by his media office OBASANJO declared that the report was intended to embarrass him.
He noted that he would naturally not have reacted to the report but for the need to clear the minds of those who he said have been calling him to ascertain his true position ever since the report was published.
The former President described the story as the height of irresponsible journalism, and called for an investigation and sanction on anybody involved in order to serve as deterrent to others who may want to be used either by omission or commission to misinform the public on such sensitive issue.
