Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has appreciated Team Bayelsa at the 2024 National Sports Festival with the sum of N20m for their outstanding performance .
Governor Diri who made a brisk appearance at the closing ceremony of the games at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena on Friday sparked wild jubilation as he visited the athletes and officials who are getting set for the closing parade.
Led by the Commissioner for Sports Development, Daniel Igali, the Governor said;
“I am very happy with your performance in this games,it shows the spirit of the true Bayelsan, so I am dropping twenty million naira for you now to appreciate your determination and resilience.
The governor added that the preparation for the 2026 Sports Festival to be hosted in Enugu State will start immediately.
Team Bayelsa finished in second position at the 22nd National Sports Festival.
