A reminder about the restriction was sent to aviation regulatory authorities through a memo from the Office of the National Security Adviser.
According to the memo; air travelers are required to travel by road or train to Abuja from the Kaduna International Airport, following the closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja.
It noted that the airspace over the Federal Capital Territory is controlled and only security flights or those with the requisite security clearance from the Presidency are granted overhead clearance for obvious security reasons.
Online-based PR-Nigeria cited a top security intelligence source indicating that the memo was issued in a bid to reinforce a No-Fly Zone without security clearance.
