NLC Begins Nationwide Protest Over Rising Insecurity

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is set to today embark on a nationwide protest over the rising level of insecurity across the country.

Speaking in a chat, the Chairman of the NLC in Rivers State, Alex Agwanwor, said participation in the protest is mandatory for all NLC members and affiliate unions. He expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation, noting that the labour movement is saddened by the current state of insecurity in Nigeria.

Agwanwor said the protest is aimed at drawing the attention of government to the urgent need to address growing threats to lives and property nationwide.

Meanwhile, the Pilex Centre for Civic Education Initiative has announced it will join the NLC in the protest. The coordinator of the group, Courage Nsirimovu, told reporter Ufuoma Kokogho that security in the country has deteriorated to its lowest point.

Nsirimovu called on the Federal Government to urgently strengthen its security response and take decisive steps to protect citizens.
