NJC set to redeem image of judiciary and restore confidence in dispensation of justice.

This followed the launch in Abuja yesterday a new National Judicial Policy that seeks to provide a basis for the enforcement of ethical standards on judicial officers.

Among other provisions; the new policy seeks to restrict public information and media access petitions and complaints that are made against judicial officers.

The ceremony also featured the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice MAHMUD MOHAMMED, who is the Chairman of the NJC, setting up a Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics to oversee the implementation of the new National Judicial Police.

The Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics is headed by a retired Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice IDRIS KUTIGI.

Other jurists who witnessed the launch of the nee National Judicial Policy, including retired Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice MUSDAPHER and former Chairman of ICPC, Justice EMMANUEL AYOOLA highlighted some of the unique features of the document.
