Nigeria’s sprint sensation, Ajayi Kayinsola, stormed to victory in the men’s 100 metres at the Meeting International de Sotteville in France, clocking 9.92 seconds (1.7m/s) to equal his personal best.
In what was his first race following an impressive NCAA season, Kayinsola broke the meet record with the blistering performance, finishing ahead of Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme, who ran 10.04 seconds, and Senegal’s Mamadou Fall, who clocked 10.10 seconds.
The 9.92-second run not only earned Kayinsola the gold medal but also reaffirmed his status as one of Africa’s fastest men heading into the global athletics season.
