Lawmakers give Akpabio 48-hours deadline to publish names of members taking NDDC contracts

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has directed the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio to publish the names of lawmakers taking contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission  within 48 hours or risks the full wrath of the House.

 

The Speaker directed the Clerk of the National Assembly to send a communication to the minister today, following the adoption of a point of privilege.

 

 

He also declared that the Committee on NDDC can summon the Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Keme Pondei who slumped yesterday if it wishes so.

 

 

The House wants Akpabio  to publish the names, the contracts, the companies, date, amount and the projects executed by National Assembly members in the NDDC.

 

 

Earlier; The House of Representatives said it will take-on the Minister of Niger-Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio  over his allegation against the National Assembly.

 

 

Reacting to the allegation, member representing Ishan North-East and Esan South- East Federal Constituency, Sergius Ogun, said Akpabio made the allegation to distract Nigerians from the real issues in the NDDC.
