Rivers State government to connect more communities in the state to National power grid by 2021

The Rivers State Government says it is compiling names of communities in the state that are not connected to the national grid.

State commissioner for Power, Damiete Herbert-Miller who made the disclosure said the Rivers state government intends to connect the affected communities in the upland region to the National Grid by next year, 2021.

 

The commissioner who spoke in an interview with our correspondent Chinedu Iwunna said the fund for the project is expected to be captured in the 2021 budget of the state.

 

Speaking on plans for communities in the riverine areas, the Commissioner for Power said the state government is making plans to purchase generating set for the communities in the region to also enable them enjoy electricity.
