The Governor also commended security operatives for their mature intervention in ensuring that the situation was contained. Reacting to the development; the APC in Rivers State slammed Governor NYESOM WIKE for not responding appropriately to the violent protests. In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, CHRIS FINEBONE, the party said the state government showed ineptitude in dealing with the crisis. The APC spokesman said the seeming laissez-faire attitude displayed by the state government while the protest lasted gave the impression of tacit support of the government. The Rivers State APC said it was not against any group in Nigeria embarking on lawful agitation but is against unlawfully interfering with the peaceful existence of others in the name of agitation or protest as have happened twice in the past couple of weeks in Port Harcourt.
