There were no nominees for the two local government councils in the list that was sent to the House of Assembly yesterday, which covered appointments for twenty local government councils.
You will recall that the Assembly immediately confirmed the nominees, after which Governor WIKE last night inaugurated the new chairmen of local government caretaker committees. During the ceremony at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor WIKE charged the caretaker chairmen to move into action and tackle the rising cases of criminality, particularly kidnapping. He also stressed the need for the council chairmen to also tackle the issue of sanitation, particularly in Obio-Akpor, where he also warned against illegal revenue collection.
The Governor warned that any CTC chairman who performed below expectation will be sacked without delay. The new CTC chairmen include the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Rivers State, SAMUEL WONOSIKE who is coming as Caretaker Chairman for Ikwere Local Government council. SOBOMA JACKREECH who is also known as Egberipapa is the Caretaker Chairman for Asari-Toru Local Government council, while Obio-Akpor, Emohua and Etche retained their previous caretaker chairmen. The Speaker of the House of Assembly, IKUNYI IGBANI confirmed their appointment after the House considered the names sent in by the Governor yesterday.
