JUSTICE FOR CHIMA: our son had no record of diabetes, Family of mechanic tortured to death cry out
The family of Late CHIMA OKWUNADO who died while in detention at E-Crack facility at Mile-One, Diobu, Port Harcourt has said their son did not die of diabetes as claimed by the Rivers state Police Command.
Elder brother to the late CHIMA, OBINNA OKWUNADO said his brother died of torture by officials of E-Crack.
The brother in a telephone interview with our correspondent said the crime committed by the E-Crack personnel are grave and must not be swept under the carpet.
Details emerged last week of how personnel from the E-Crack formation of the Police arrested an auto mechanic in Ikokwu, CHIMA OKWUNADO and four of his boys for alleged car theft but CHIMA was later said to have died while in detention.
Spokesman of the Rivers state Police Command, NNAMDI OMONI told newsmen that the Commander of E-Crack, SP BENSON ADETUYI confirmed that CHIMA died in detention and autopsy report says the auto mechanic died of diabetes.
In the meantime, report says the Inspector-General of Police IGP MOHAMMED ADAMU has requested that the Commander of E-Crack, the IPO in charge of the case and other personnel involved in the matter report to the Police Headquarters, Abuja.
