In Mali, soldiers have killed five Islamist fighters who are allegedly responsible for a series of attacks along the border with Burkina Faso. An Army spokesman Colonel SOULEYMANE MAIGA said clashes erupted on Wednesday in the Tiebanda Forest, in central Mali's Mopti region. Colonel MAIGA said a number of Islamist militants were also wounded, while the army suffered no casualties.
