The Rivers State House of Assembly resumed sitting yesterday after a long period of break, during which the election tribunals sitting in Abuja canceled the elections of twenty members, including the Speaker. The House of Assembly yesterday considered a motion moved by the lawmakers representing Asari-Toru and Akuku-Toru State constituencies, seeking immediate intervention of the State Government to address criminal activities along the Emohua-Kalabari road. In a motion jointly moved by ENEMI ALABO-GEORGE, TEKENARI WELLINGTON, MAJOR JACK, and TONY ALALIBO; the lawmakers called for enhanced security in the area. The motion was presented by the member representing Akuku-Toru Constituency Two, TEKENARI WELLINGTON.
However, the Speaker of the House, IKUNYI IWAJI-IGBANI delayed debate on the motion, including that of two other committee reports.  Correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that the House announced the retirement of the Clerk, EMMANUEL OGELE and adjourned sitting indefinitely.
