Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI has lost his appeal seeking to stop his corruption trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal. Senator SARAKI is facing criminal charges brought against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau over alleged false declaration of assets. In his appeal, Senator SARAKI raised five issues upon which he asked the appellate court to strike out his trial, including that the case was not properly filed and that the CCT was not a superior court. Two of the judges of the Court of Appeal panel upheld the ruling that the appeal lacked merit, but the third judge delivered a dissenting judgment, upholding the appeal by the Senate President that the CCT was not a superior court. You will recall that the Code of Conduct Tribunal had delayed further hearing on the case filed by SARAKI pending the outcome of the Appeal Court ruling.
