Ogoni people resist resumption of oil exploration in the land

Some Ogoni people have rejected the position other Ogoni elites on the resumption of oil exploration in the area.

The people called on Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation to interface with Ogoni people in its move to take over oil exploration in the area rather than the elites who it claims does not have the mandate of the people. 

The people made known their position in a communiqué issued after the end of Ogoni General Assembly held in Zaakpon in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to the communiqué read by the National Coordinator of Conscience of Ogoni People, Chief GANI TOPBA, the group also passed a vote of No confidence on the president the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni people LEGBOSI PYAGBARA.


The Ogoni General Assembly also passed a vote of confidence on Nigerian Security Agencies for the fight against criminal elements in Ogoniland.
