ULC to commence nationwide strike tomorrow.
It appears the season of strike is far from over as one of the Labour Centres in Nigeria; the United Labour Congress is set to commence a nationwide indefinite strike starting from tomorrow.
This again follows the failure by the federal government to address the demands of the union.
The threat came barely two weeks after the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment responded to the workers through a letter, which the ULC said, largely failed to adequately address the critical issues raised in their demands.
The union issued the strike threat after an emergency meeting of its National Administrative Committee, which was held jointly with the National Strike Committee in Lagos.
Here in Rivers State; the members of the union said they are ready to withdraw their services once they get the directive from their National leadership.
The State Chairman of the ULC, CHARLES ELETO described the planned strike as the mother of all strike.
The ULC Chairman also wondered why the federal government is yet to issue the labour centre a certificate of registration after it has met all the requirements.
Our correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA reports that National Union of Petroleun and Natural Gas Workers and the National Union of Electricity Workers are affiliate members of the ULC.
