Some stakeholders have been speaking in favour of indigenous companies taking over the drilling of petro-carbons from foreign multinationals against the back drop of alleged failure to fulfil their corporate social responsibility in oil bearing communities.

This comes as an aftermath of current agitation in some oil bearing communities in the Niger Delta region particularly Rivers State.

A chieftain of the Pan-Niger Delta Development Forum, ANABRABA SARA-IGBE called on the Federal Government through its oil and gas regulator, the NNPC to allow local oil and gas companies to take over petro-carbon production without any further delay.

SARA-IGBE noted that the ratio in the sharing formula before now is quite negligible and as such not acceptable.

Also speaking, the former Public Relations Officer of Uzugbani Ekpeye Logbo NNA FRANK-JACK said it is not out of place to make the welfare of host communities of oil and gas a topmost priority by the multinationals.

NNA FRANK-JACK is the former Public Relations Officer of Uzugbani Ekpeye Logbo.
