victims of demolition at Unity Estate within Eneka community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have dragged the state government court.

Among those joined as respondents in the suit are the Attorney-General of the state and the State Ministry of Urban Development.

Members of Unity Estate Landlords Association who are victims of the demolition want the court to declare as illegal the massive demolition of over eighty houses and other properties worth billions of naira by the state government.

The applicants also want the court to declare as unconstitutional, gross violation and an infringement of fundamental rights the respondents purported acquisition of the properties and demolition without issuance of any service of notice or compensation.

The Eneka Unity Estate demolished victims are also asking the court to award the sum of five billion naira to them as compensation for the general damage for alleged unlawful interference with their fundamental rights by the respondents.
