the Rivers state Police Command says it has contained the uprising in Oyigbo Local government area of Rivers state where a mosque was attacked and as well as Northerners residing in the area by suspected IPOB members.

A source within the area had told our correspondent that suspected members of Indigenous People of Biafra went on rampage in parts of Oyigbo, a spill over of the incidents in Abia state.

When contacted, Spokesman of the Rivers state Police Command, NNAMDI OMONI said sanity has been restored in the area.

Contrary to reports that lives were lost, OMONI who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police said circulated reports were in the realm of speculation.

He said the State Coommissioner of Police, CP AHMED ZAKI personally led other officers to restore sanity at the scene of the incident.

Our correspondent reports that military personnel have also been deployed to Oyigbo.
