The Nigerian Army says soldiers involved in a scuffle with some journalists in umuahia, Abia State will face disciplinary action.

Major OYEGOKE BADAMOSI who is the Assistant Director Public Relations, 14 Brigade said the soldiers accosted the journalists at the press centre of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ.

Major BABAMOSI confirmed in a statement that the journalists were on their legitimate duty and filming the soldiers on patrol around the NUJ press centre when the troops pounced on them and destroyed their recording devices, including an iPad and two mobile phones.

However, the army spokesman disclosed in a statement that the troops did not invade the NUJ press centre and the incident had been exaggerated on the social media.

He said the Commander, 14 Brigade and Deputy Director of Army Public Relations of 82 Division have waded into the matter which has since been resolved amicably.
