Men of the Rivers State Police Command have been accused of arresting innocent people in a raid opposite the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education at Rumuolumeni.

Our correspondent gathered that operative of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad stormed the Iwofe neighbourhood over the weekend and picked up people at random in operation that was meant to target criminal elements in the area.

Some residents of the area who spoke to our correspondent said real criminals, who were spared by the police, have since returned to loot their belongings after the police invasion.

There has not been any reaction from the Commander of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Rivers State Police Command.
