This report just reaching our News Desk says the Federal Government has promised to release the sum of two hundred and twenty billion naira in line with the agreement it entered with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU in 2009.

The money is meant to fund infrastructure development for the revitalization of federal universities across Nigeria.

This was announced by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Doctor CHRIS NGIGE after a closed-door meeting in Abuja with representatives of ASUU.

Also addressing newsmen after the meeting, ASUU President, Professor BIODUN OGUNYEMI, expressed optimism that the strike embarked upon by university lecturers would be called off if government shows commitment to address their concerns.
