The suspected ritual killer who escaped from the custody of the Rivers State Police Command has been captured in Plateau State.

Our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that IFEANYICHUKWU MAXWELL DIKE was arrested last night in Jos, Plateau State, by men of the State Police Command.

Our correspondent also gathered that the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, ZAKI AHMED, has sent a team of senior police officers to escort the runaway murder suspect back to Port Harcourt.

The Commander of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Rivers State Police Command broke the news at the Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt, which was greeted with jubilation by other officers.

You will recall that IFEANYICHUKWU MAXWELL DIKE was caught by night guards around Eliozu in Obio-Akpor, with the remains of eight-year-old VICTORY CHIKAMSO MEZU as he was about to dispose the body.

DIKE was later handed over to the police but he managed to escape from the custody of the State CID under inexplicable circumstances.

The Investigating Police Officer in charge of the case, JOHNBOSCO OKORINNZE has since been dismissed and remanded in prison custody after he was arraigned for negligence.

You will also recall that the Rivers State Police Command had announced a one million naira reward for information on the whereabouts of the suspected ritual killer, which was increased by five hundred thousand naira by Rivers APC chieftain, DAKUKU PETERSIDE.

Several groups had condemned the police for the poor handling of the case involving the suspected ritual killer, with a group of women giving the Rivers State Police Command seven days to capture the runaway suspect.
