soldiers have destroyed suspected illegally refined petroleum products intercepted around Elechi and Abonnema Wharf axis of Port Harcourt.

Troops of 29 Battalion Tactical Headquarters at Bille also engaged in a shootout with suspected oil thieves at Feropkakama bunkering site.

 

The fleeing oil thieves abandoned several items, including eight pumping machines and other bunkering tools, as well as fourteen Pump Action cartridges and four empty AK 47 magazines.

 

These developments were confirmed in a statement by the spokesman of the Six Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt.

 

The Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel AMINU ILIYASU said the operations were carried out in line with the mandate of the Six Division to check the activities of criminals within its area of responsibility.

 

Colonel ILIYASU said at Harris Town also in Rivers State, troops of 130 Battalion arrested one DAVID OWHOR who is also known as CHILE, and suspected to be a notorious kidnapper.

 

He said CHILE and other members of his gang are alleged to have been terrorising motorists and travellers on the East-West Road between Port Harcourt and Choba general area.

 

Colonel ILIYASU further disclosed that the presence of troops of Three Battalion in Warri, Delta State has significantly reduced attacks on notable hot spots around Warri metropolis, as well as communities along Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja boundary, Isaba community, Mofor, Okwuokwuoko and Sapele.
