Season of strikes: SANU warms to joins Asuu.

The industrial crisis rocking Nigerian universities has worsened, with the three non-academic unions warming up to join the Academic Staff Union of Universities which has been on strike for over three weeks.

The Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU; the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU; and the National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, have called out their members for an indefinite nationwide strike beginning from Monday next week.

The decision was announced at the end of a meeting of the Joint Action Committee meeting of non-teaching unions in Abuja, after which SSANU President, SAMSON UGWOKE, briefed the media.

 

Meanwhile; the Federal Government negotiating team led by the Minister of Labour and Employment and the Minister of Education would attempt to resolve the dispute with leaders of the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities as they return to negotiations today in Abuja.
