Senator EKWEREMADU is under investigation over alleged alteration of the Senate Standing Rule which paved the way for his emergence as Deputy Senate President in the APC-dominated Eighth National Assembly.

Senator EKWEREMADU is under investigation over alleged alteration of the Senate Standing Rule which paved the way for his emergence as Deputy Senate President in the APC-dominated Eighth National Assembly.
National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, OLISAH METUAH confirmed the invitation of the Senator EKWEREMADU during a media briefing in Abuja yesterday.
METUH said the Deputy Senate President was summoned on the orders of the Inspector General of Police based on a petition by some APC Senators in the National Assembly.
Following the development; the PDP spokesman warned that Nigeria’s democracy was under threat due to alleged pressure and intimidation of its members by the APC.
He claimed that the police intend to detain Senator EKWEREMADU as part of an alleged plot remove him from the position
The PDP spokesman said the alleged plot to remove the Deputy Senate President was being orchestrated by some members of the ruling party.
METUH also said Senator EKWEREMADU and other key PDP members are being threatened and subjected to other forms of intimidation and blackmail.
METUH added that the government and APC leaders should be held responsible for any harm that may come upon the Deputy Senate President or any of its party leaders.
