Some aggrieved former Niger Delta militants yesterday sealed the premises of Enterprise Bank along Olu-Obasanjo road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in protest over alleged cuts in their sixty-five thousand naira monthly allowance. The protesters who were drawn from the twenty-three Local Government Areas of Rivers state, also blocked the Olu-Obasanjo road, making it difficult for motorists to use the road. Some of the protesters who spoke with correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR complained that some former militant leaders have continued to cut down their stipends since the inception of the Amnesty Programme. They complained that instead of sixty-five thousand naira, some of their members have been receiving fifteen thousand naira.

Our correspondent reports that the protesters insisted that they would not leave the location until they are paid their full stipends.
