The National Emergency Management Agency has confirmed the deportation of some twelve thousand Nigerians from Cameroon. A report quoting NEMA says some one thousand, one hundred and twenty-one people have already crossed into Nigeria from Cameroon through the Sahuda border post in Adamawa State. NEMA said others are still waiting to go through immigration and security screening to enable them enter the country. The deportees are alleged to have been arrested by Cameroonian officials for not having the correct documents. The move comes barely days after President MUHAMMADU BUHARI completed a two-day official visit to Cameroon. During the visit, both leaders pledged their commitment to end the Boko Haram insurgency and other areas of mutual interest, including the Lake Chad Basin development. You will recall that the Boko Haram has been blamed for recent suicide bomb attacks in northern Cameroon, including suicide bombings by women.
