The Senate has summoned the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, GODWIN EMEFIELE. The CBN Governor is expected to provide explanation on the depreciation of the nation’s currency and the implication of the trend for the economy. The Senate adopted a motion to declare a state of emergency on federal roads across the country. The motion was moved by Senator DINO MELAYE from Kogi West, with the support of ninety other senators. The motion demands the Federal Government to immediately undertake the rehabilitation of major highways and interstate roads across the country, while such roads that are single carriage way should be improved to dual carriage way. The Senate ad hoc committee on works is mandated to carry out an audit of all road projects across country with a view to producing raw data for necessary legislative action.
