The Senate has screened and confirmed the newly-appointed Service Chiefs after a closed-door session at the National Assembly. The move followed a motion moved by the Senate Leader, ALI NDUME based on which the upper legislative chamber dissolved into a Committee of the Whole.

 

The Senate has screened and confirmed the newly-appointed Service Chiefs after a closed-door session at the National Assembly. The move followed a motion moved by the Senate Leader, ALI NDUME based on which the upper legislative chamber dissolved into a Committee of the Whole.

Speaking after the confirmation, some of the senators urged the Service Chiefs to tackle the wave of insurgency in the North-East and oil theft in the Niger Delta. The service chiefs include Major General ABAYOMI GABRIEL OLONISAKIN who is the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General TUKUR YUSUFU BURATAI who is the Chief of Army Staff.

Also, Rear Admiral IBOK-ETE EKWE IBAS, who is the Chief of Naval Staff and the Chief of Air Staff SADIQUE BABA ABUBAKAR.
