The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed the Rivers State Polytechnic Amendment Bill of 2015 which provides a change of name of the institution to Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic. 

The Speaker, IKUNYI IGBANI confirmed the passage of the bill following the adoption of the report of the ad-hoc committee which he chaired.

 

The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed the Rivers State Polytechnic Amendment Bill of 2015 which provides a change of name of the institution to Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic. 

The Speaker, IKUNYI IGBANI confirmed the passage of the bill following the adoption of the report of the ad-hoc committee which he chaired.

He said with the passage of the bill, the State House of Assembly agrees with the Executive Arm of Government on the need to immortalize late playwright and environmental activist, KEN SARO-WIWA. 

Correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that some members of the State Assembly acknowledged the amendment of the Rivers state Polytechnic Law of 1989.  

The Rivers State House of Assembly has adjourned plenary until 4th of August.
