All is not well in Ibaa community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State following the decision of the State Police Command to establish a police station in the area.

A section of the community opposed to the presence of the police station  alleged that one of the chieftaincy contenders, Chief SAMSON OVUA was involved in the establishment of the police station.

WORKER WOLOKORO who, a stakeholder in the community told our correspondent that some chiefs and elders of Ibaa no longer have confidence in the police.

On his part, one of the youth leaders in Ibaa, GLORY CHIKORDI AMADI stressed the need for all to parties work towards lasting peace in the community.

However; authorities of the Rivers State Police Command have dismissed the alleged influence of Chief SAMSON OVUA in the establishment of the Ibaa Police Station.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, AHMAD MUHAMMAD who made the clarification in an interview with our correspondent, said the police do not take sides in communal dispute.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CHRIS EZIKE had during a recent media briefing at the Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt confirmed the establishment of the Ibaa Police Station.

C.P. EZIKE said it was part of strategies to improve security presence in the area and curtail the activities of criminals, cultism and kidnapping.
