Aka Ikenga condemns the use of force by security agencies against pro-Biafra demonstrators
The pan-Igbo think tank group, Aka Ikenga has condemned the use of force by security agencies against pro-Biafra demonstrators across the South-East as well as Delta State in the South-South.
The Ohaneze Ndigbo affiliate group is of the view that the demonstrations which were planned on Monday to mark the anniversary of the Biafra declaration fifty years ago would have been peaceful but for the security intervention.
The President General of Aka-Ikenga, Chief GODDY UWAZURIKI who spoke with our correspondent on telephone from Lagos, said there was no point for security agencies to unleash arms against unarmed demonstrators.
Chief GODDY UWAZURIKI also faulted the claim by the Nigeria Police High Command that the pro-Biafra demonstrators were armed and had been involved in the killing of some policemen and soldiers.
The Aka Ikenga leader also criticized the passive response of the Nigerian Senate when the issue of violent clampdown on peaceful demonstrators across the South-East was brought to the attention of the chamber by the Deputy Senate President, IKE EKWEREMADU.
Chief GODDY UWAZURIKI is the President General of Aka-Ikenga; an affiliate group of Ohaneze Ndigbo.
