The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State says it has uncovered a plot by rival politicians to mobilize a protest during the planned visit by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.

The allegation is linked to plans by the Peoples Democratic Party to have its members and supporters join in the reception for President BUHARI during his visit to Rivers State tomorrow.

The President is expected to perform the launch of the Ogoni cleanup exercise in line with the United Nations Environment Programme Report on oil pollution in the land.

But the Rivers APC is warning that attempts are being made in some quarters to unleash rival party tugs and hoodlums to disrupt the visit of President BUHAR.

State Publicity Secretary of APC, CHRIS FINEBONE claims that the anticipated protesters intend to disguise as citizens who have been mobilised to give the President a rousing welcome.

FINEBONE said the APC finds it curious that Governor NYESOM WIKE will claim to mobilise his party members to welcome President BUHARI.

The APC’s concern is based on purported unpleasant remarks made in the past by the State Governor against the President.

FINEBONE said the intention of Rivers PDP is to disrupt the Ogoni cleanup ceremony in a bid to embarrass President BUHARI, the Minister of Transportation, CHIBUIKE AMAECHI, and well as Senator MAGNUS ABE, and the Director-General of NIMASA, DAKUKU PETERSIDE.
