The Nigerian Senate has decided to take necessary steps to address the violent confrontation between security operatives and pro-Biafra agitators across the South-East Geopolitical zone.Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that on resumption of plenary today, the Deputy Senate President IKE EKWERENMADU raised a point of order, drawing the attention of the Senate to incidence of violence in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Senator EKWERENMADU stressed the need for operatives of security agencies to exercise caution even while trying to maintain peace and order.
EKWEREMADU called on the Senate to set up a panel of inquiry to investigate the violence and take appropriate measures to avoid a repeat.
In his response; the Senate President BUKOLA SARAKI acknowledged Senator EKWEREMADU’s point of order and assured that appropriate action would have to be taken.
