Rivers: Murder trial of former caretaker committee chairman stalls

The trail of a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Sunny Bekanwa and Henry Barikui-Dele over alleged murder of Doctor Lucky Keena and Engineer Deyaa Dunsara in Kpean community has been stalled before a Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt.

Today's Fm correspondent reports that the matter which was scheduled for continuation of cross examination of prosecution witnesses, could not go on due to the absence of the trial Judge, Justice I.P Chigozi-Igwe in court.

Sunny Bekanwa and Henry Barikui-Dele are facing seven counts of murder, cultism, possession of illegal firearms amongst other charges before the state high court.

Professor Patrick Wiyokpigi who is an indigene of Khana Local Government had during cross examination in the last adjourned date, told the Court that when Sunny Bekanwa became a killing machine, he conspired with his boys and chased elites away from the community.

Professor Wiyokpigi also had told the court that the inhabitants of Kpean community on hearing of the arrest of Sunny Bekanwa and Henry Barikui-Dele, jubilated as peace returned to the community.
