The Rivers State Government has come under criticism for donating two hundred million naira to a new generational church in the state.

The Defence for Human Rights and Democracy, in reaction to Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s gesture on Sunday, condemned the action which it described as extravagant, despite the current scarcity in the country.

The Rivers State chairman of the organization, Clifford Christopher in an interview with Today FM’s Sandra Kenneth, expressed concern that Governor Fubara could donate such an amount from public funds meant for the people.

Christopher emphasized that Rivers State is currently in financial epilepsy, stating that the governor ought to be prudent with the resources of the state.

Christopher asked Governor Fubara to invest in solving critical issues like the Shortage of infrastructure, the dilapidated state of public schools with no teachers.
