New AIG assumes duty in zone 16, Yenagoa
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone Sixteen, Headquarters Yenagoa Bayelsa State, Adebola Ayinde-Hamzat, has warned that officers found engaging in land-grabbing activities will face appropriate disciplinary action.
AIG Ayinde-Hamzat spoke to newsmen after a brief meeting with stakeholders before a lecture for the police, reaffirming the Inspector General of Police’s stance against corruption, extortion, and human rights abuses.
The Police Chief stated that the lecture would provide officers with a better understanding of human rights and the responsibilities of the Nigerian police to maintain cooperation with the community.
He emphasized that there are mechanisms in place to discipline errant officers, insisting that anyone involved in human rights abuses, corruption, or extortion will be held accountable.
Ayinde-Hamzat called for support and collaboration from the public, particularly in sharing information, assuring that all shared information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
