Rivers State Elections Petition Tribunal Yet to Receive Petitions After Nine Days
Nine days after the register was opened at the Rivers State Local Government Elections Petition Tribunal, members of the panel have stated that they have yet to receive any petitions from aggrieved political parties or individuals.
The Secretary to the LGA Election Petition Tribunal, Dagogo Ogan, disclosed this during an interview with Today FM.
Ogan mentioned that although lawyers have been visiting for guidance on the process, no petitions have been filed so far.
He noted that those visiting have not indicated interest in any particular political party, local government, or candidate but expressed optimism that in the coming weeks, aggrieved party candidates will begin filing their petitions.
It is important to note that political parties and candidates who are dissatisfied with the conduct of the recently concluded local government elections have a thirty-day window, starting from the day the tribunal's register was opened, to file their petitions.
