Fubara/Wike: Ijaw Congress urges Tinubu to pay special attention to Rivers politics
The Ijaw National Congress Worldwide has urged President Bola Tinubu to pay close attention to political developments in Rivers state to avert a breakdown of law and order.
The President of the Ijaw National Congress, Professor Benjamin Okaba in a statement in Abuja, noted that the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike have been at loggerheads over the political soul of the state.
Professor Okaba said the political tension in the state was capable of breaching public peace and threatening democracy in the state, insisting that Rivers State is home to the Ijaws and important to the INC.
The statement also suggested that the issues currently being experienced in Rivers State were far beyond political godfatherism, but desperation for state capture by all means.
Professor Benjamin Okaba maintained that the extent at which those he described as dramatist personae were going about their self-seeking adventurous activities was quite worrisome and urged the president to urgently intervene to forestall a breakdown of law and order.
