International Society for Social Justice and Human Rights Urges Rivers State to Establish Human Rights Commission
The international society for social justice and human right has called on Rivers State government to urgently establish human right commission in the state.
The state coordinator Omenazu Jackson who made this known in an interview with Todayfm Sandra Kenneth said the commission should be tailored towards the aims and objectives of the United Nations Human Rights goals.
Jackson emphasized that the establishment is necessary to enable residents and citizens of the state who cannot afford legal services the opportunity to seek restitution against violators.
He explained that the Rivers State human rights commission will serve as a venting ground for people who have violated stressing that the state has experienced gross human rights violations among state and non state actors.
He also stated the timeliness of the establishment adding that a retired judge could be placed in charge of the commission.
