Police Debunks News Of Decapitated Bodies In Rivers
Rivers State Police Command has dismissed news making rounds on social media, of bags containing decapitated human bodies dumped behind a church along Iwofe Road in Obio Akpor Local government Area of the state.
The command in a statement said the Police responded swiftly to the claims by contacting the Rivers State Waste Management Agency to jointly examine the bags.
It said the sole administrator of RIWAMA, Prince Ohia-Obi, led the agency’s public health team to carry out the examination process where it was discovered that the bags did not contain human bodies but were rather bags filled with poultry debris by yet to be identified individual.
The police in it's statement by the public relations officer Grace Iringe-Koko stated that the Rivers State Waste Management Agency has since evacuated the debris to one of the designated dumpsites in the city of Port Harcourt, describing the rumours as ones peddled by mischief makers intending to mislead gullible public with aims to cause panic and unrest.
The Command frowned at the action and warned rumour mongers to desist from it.
The police however enjoined Rivers residents to go about their lawful business without fear as the alarm was false.
