The Nigeria Security and Security Civil Defence Corps Rivers State Command has condemned some misleading information circulating on social media in connection with the ten Operational Vehicles donated by Governor Siminilayi Fubara.

Speaking on behalf of the State Commandant, Joachin Okafor at the command headquarters in Port Harcourt; the command spokesman Superintendent Olufemi Ayodele said in tandem with the usual tradition of Service Commanders paying courtesy call to the Chief Security Officer of the State; the new State Commandant did same upon assumption of office and tendered his achievements and the challenges faced by the command.

The NSCDC in the statement said the governor was moved by the tenacity and doggedness to combat Crude Oil theft and reiterated commitment to salvage the people of Rivers State from environmental degradation, pollution of the aquatic life and health hazards mostly caused by illegal dealings.

The statement said Governor Fubara who had earlier donated over one hundred vehicles to some Security Agencies in Rivers state reciprocated same gesture by donating ten Toyota Hilux Vehicles to enhance the operational efficiency of the NSCDC Rivers State Command, noting that the donation took place before the conduct of the Local Government Elections.

The Rivers State Command stated that the vehicles were not donated for elections neither were they compensations for participating in the Local Government Elections but noted that it was donated to enhance the command's land operational patrol.

It insisted that their role in the last Local Government Election centered on routine patrol and the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure across the state based on the Intelligence report at their disposal before the election was conducted.
